Barefoot and Gilles is a business-minded practice with a practical, pro-active approach to projects. We are adept at finding suitable sites for clients, forming working partnerships and exploring opportunities. We focus on delivery; designing workable solutions that maximise return on investment for our clients.

With over twenty years’ experience in affordable housing the practice has produced award-winning energy efficient homes throughout the region and is currently working on a joint venture with Orwell Housing Association, Norwich City Council and ISGJ to produce over 100 homes on 16 infill sites in Norwich.

Private housing has included numerous refurbishments and extensions to Listed buildings together with a series of small (12 – 16 homes) developments on sensitive infill sites which also often include Listed buildings.

Our experience with health and welfare buildings has enabled us recently to complete the Treehouse Project for East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices which has been very well received by both the client and the public who donated over £3m in less than a year for its completion.

Commercial projects include the award-winning extension to the Salthouse Harbour Hotel in Ipswich and, most recently, the refurbishment of Chapman’s Warehouse on the Ipswich Waterfront.
